Paleo Indians

Students turned in their "Create your own Continent" assignment today.  Late assignments will count for half credit. 


Reading:  We have reading class every Wednesday in which we created a T-Chart for the pros and cons of standardized testing for high school graduates.  They also wrote in support for their personal opinion on the topic.  This was turned in for a graded assignment.


History:  Students took notes on a powerpoint presentation covering the paleo Indians and how they migrated into America.  This will lead us into our new unit on Mesoamericans and Native Americans.  Students that were absent may get a printed version of the powerpoint when they return.


 

Create your own Continent

Students are using their map skills to create their own continent.  They received a grid paper in class today to draw their continent and a scoring guide.  Examples of items to be presented in their assignment include: latitude and longitude coordinates, geographical features (lakes, mountains, etc.), compass rose, equator, tropic of cancer/capricorn, etc...

Students will work on their project throughout class on Tuesday.  If it is not completed in class, students will take it home for homework Tuesday night.  It is due at the beginning of class on Wednesday.

Students took their first open note quiz in class today.  Grades will soon be posted on infinite campus for you to view.  If you cannot view your child's grades, please contact the front office for more information.

Battle Ship Friday

The open note quiz was cancelled Friday and rescheduled for Monday.  I felt as though the students needed more practice with latitude and longitude coordinates, so they played a game of battleship!  I have attached the game in the link.  Have a great weekend!

Map Skills Quiz

Students will have an open note quiz tomorrow on Map Skills (latitude and longitude coordinates).  Students will need to bring their binder with their notes to class in order to use them during the quiz.

• 3 Ring Binder
• Tabs
• Loose paper or notebook
• Pencils
• Colored Pencils
